What is the BIG deal about ASKing for HELP?
For years and years, going all the way back to grade school, I couldn’t let people know I needed help.
I’m sure this was and is rooted in fear of shame and somehow being seen as not capable. God forbid!
If you are sensitive and/or introverted, the BIG ASK will be even harder.
I started ASKing for help and letting people know that I’m not okay when I’m not okay.
What has happened?
I get my needs met. I feel a huge sense of relief. Others are grateful I chose them to confide in and it builds deeper connection. I role model and then get an ASK back. I’m not alone. I find new solutions to pencil breaking problems. I see outside of myself and find my way to creative answers. The shame subsides after a small or big vulnerability hangover. I feel better!!
What can your ASK be? Who would be the right person to share it with? When will you do it?
Don’t wait 40 years like I did! Start now and let me know what happens.
With gratitude,
Beth
